ALKAHEST: Entry Five


Heya!

One year and one day after I hit publish on ALKAHEST: Entry One of this Devlog, we successfully launched our game! 

The reception has been extraordinarily kind — just beyond our wildest dreams! What began as an escape from the turbulent violence of last May/June has since evolved into ongoing development of an expansive dungeonpunk world full of mature characters with competing motivations. 

A huge thank you to anyone who's downloaded Alkahest thus far. Your interest in Lore City and its denizens means the world to me. 

PATCH NOTES  (Build 1.0.1)

We're now four days post-launch! We've gone ahead and uploaded a fresh build that should take care of a few stubborn bugs players may have encountered along the way: 

  • Typos: fixed a few spelling errors
  • Alchemy Simulator: we had a few conditions not triggering correctly for Jessamine and Logan's potions - the correct text should now be shown in response to player error/success
If you come across any bugs — gamebreaking or otherwise — please don't hesitate to reach out at info@splitfatestudios.com! 

POSTMORTEM

Hoping to write up a longform reflection on the entire year-long dev process to share thoughts on what worked, what didn't, and how the game came together for launch! If this sounds like something you'd like to read, please stay tuned! Should have something up by the end of the summer.

In the meantime, we'll be shifting to a maintenance approach for future Alkahest Devlog updates. You'll be able to find any major Patch Updates detailed here going forward.
